Hampstead Heath
Hampstead Heath is the perfect place in London to spend some time in peace in the green outdoors and get away from the everyday busy hectic life in the city. Go bike riding with family and friends or go for a walk with your dogs. Look at the magnificent views of London and its famous landmarks from the top of Parliament Hill or even go for a swim in Hampstead Heath's own lido where you can swim for free on a warm summer day! Children love animals so to make your day even better, you can visit Golders Hill Park which is a part of the Hampstead Heath area. It has stunning plant displays, water gardens and other facilities like a tennis court, a butterfly house and a zoo where the children can see the incredible animals.
Hampstead Pond
This pond is a great opportunity to explore nature and have fun. Due to safety, only children over 8 are allowed to swim in the pond and those younger than age 16 must have an adult with them at all times however they also need to pass a swimming test. Consequently, those with young children will unfortunately have to find somewhere else to go swimming. Hampstead Pond is a great spot to dive and swim freely, especially when the water is warmer.
The Parliament Hill Paddling Pool, Lido & Playground
The Parliament Hill Lido is one of the oldest and most popular lidos in London. It is also one of the largest, measuring 60 metres by 27 metres. Unfortunately, it isn't heated so it can be cold to swim in but during summer, it's less cold and is still a well-known place for swimming. There's also a paddling pool for children under age 5 and a cafe with drinks and refreshments.
The playground near the paddling pool is perfect for kids who want to go on an adventure outside of the water!
